Tokushima University and Technion- Israel Institute of Technology sign an Agreement on Academic Cooperation

On December 22, 2020, Tokushima University and Technion - Israel Institute of Technology signed an Agreement on Academic Cooperation to promote collaboration in academic research and education.
The new agreement will encourage educational and scientific interchange among top Japanese and Israeli researchers by expanding scholarly ties, facilitating academic cooperation, increasing educational opportunities, and promoting international and inter-cultural understanding.
The agreement calls for joint research projects, the exchange of academic information, and the mutual exchange of researchers and students. After the agreement is signed, there are plans to develop and implement an exchange program to send graduate students and young researchers from both universities.
The agreement was concluded via a live webcast between the headquarters of Tokushima University and Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
President Noji Sumihare of Tokushima University and President Uri Sivan of Technion - Israel Institute of Technology signed the Agreement on Academic Cooperation.
The Technion is the premier research university in Israel for science, technology and engineering, and it is ranked among the leading technological universities worldwide. Technion is well known for its spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. Its alumni and researchers have developed numerous groundbreaking inventions with worldwide impact. The Institute is proud of its four Nobel laureates – Aaron Ciechanover, Avram Hershko, Dan Shechtman, and Arieh Warshel. Over the years, Technion has played a pivotal role in positioning Israel as the "Start-up Nation."
This agreement will further promote the globalization of both universities. In particular, it will promote joint research and the exchange of young researchers between the two universities through active cooperation.
   President and CEO Ogawa Hiroyoshi of Nichia Corporation, who mediated the agreement, was present as a witness at the signing ceremony.
