Gain a global perspective and tackle local problem-solving
In addition to acquiring expertise, specialized skills and techniques in various sciences such as humanities, anthropology, society, regional studies and information, students gain an accurate understanding of regional issues and various issues of globalized modern society through combined specialized fields of learning. We aim to foster practical people who are able to solve problems and contribute to improving the welfare and culture of mankind.

The faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences went through reorganization and started as Department of Integrated Arts and Social Sciences from April 2016. Now the new department has four courses in the department: International Comparative Studies in Society and Culture, Health Sciences of Mind and Body, Public Policy Studies and Community and Regional Studies. Globalization presents various issues for modern society, and there is a pressing requirement for social initiatives to solve them. Department of Integrated Arts and Social Sciences under-takes diverse scholarship and interdisciplinary education and research relevant to solving these issues. It aims to develop personnel with a broad perspective and knowledge, with the analytic, communication,management and coordination skills to solve these issues, who can contribute to creating regional culture and lifestyles.

Comparative Studies in Society and Culture Course

Through study abroad, we aim to cultivate people with advanced language and communicative competence, multifaceted thinking backed by affluent learning, and insight into one's own and other cultures. Graduates will be able to address the diverse issues of globalization, independently and with a broad outlook.

Health Sciences of Mind and Body Course

The department fosters personnel who can provide comprehensive support for healthy lifestyles from the viewpoint of psychology, physiology and sports and health science.

Public Policy Studies Course

In the area of social science, students acquire a foundation in law, political science, economics and management, as well as specialization through selecting seminars from these four fields. We aim to foster people who can analyze and consider the problems facing society from a multifaceted perspective, and propose and implement solutions.

Community and Regional Studies Course

Students carry out community and regional development projects combining academic fields such as regional culture and social research and the technological fields of media expression and ICT towards solving local problems. Through practical local problem-solving and development activities with local people, we aim to foster personnel who can contribute to the regional community.
