Report: International Day~ Bangladesh

On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the “International Day ~ Bangladesh” event was held at the Future Center A.BA., Josanjima Campus of Tokushima University. Following last November’s “Taste of Malaysia” event, this program was organized with the cooperation of Bangladeshi students—whose numbers have been increasing in recent years—to provide an opportunity to learn about Bangladeshi culture and language through food.
On the day of the event, the Bangladeshi students of Tokushima University served as the instructors and introduced several traditional dishes representative of the country, including khichuri, jhal muri, curry, semai, and mango lassi.
Their presentations covered the historical background of these dishes, regional variations, cultural customs related to food, and Bengali expressions associated with the cuisine, allowing participants to enjoy learning in an engaging and interactive way.
Approximately 50 Japanese and international students of Tokushima University joined the event at the Future Center. The venue was filled with a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the session. As participants listened to the lecturers and enjoyed the aroma of the dishes, natural conversations emerged among them, making the event a highly meaningful opportunity for international exchange.
Through this initiative, we were able to confirm strong interest among students in deepening their understanding of different cultures and participating in future international exchange activities.
The International Center will continue to provide opportunities for students to experience diverse cultures.
