2025 Presentation Sessions of the Short Term Study Abroad Programs (hereinafter referred to as the “session”) was held at the Otsuka Memorial University Auditorium on November 17th, 2025.
This session has been held every year since 2011, except for the three years during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of contributing to the globalization of the Faculty of Medicine and ultimately promoting the internationalization of Tokushima University by allowing students who have studied abroad at overseas academic exchange partner institutions to report their research results and their experiences abroad to faculty and students.
The session began with an opening address in English by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Ichiro Hashimoto. The presenters, in the following order, made presentations in English about the accomplishments of their overseas study abroad programs: University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (USA), Hannover Medical School (Germany), Seoul National University (Korea), Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (Finland).
The presenters reported in English on the results of their research, the local medical/healthcare situation, what they gained and the challenges they encountered during their study abroad, as well as differences in culture and customs between Japan and overseas that surprised them.
The students and faculty members in attendance listened attentively to the presentations, and after each presentation there were active questions and answers session, some in English. After the presentations, there were explanations of next year's recruitment for Schools of Medicine, Medical Nutrition and Health Sciences and Graduate School of Medical Nutrition, and the presentations concluded with a commemorative photo of all the presenters.
