Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences

The Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences searches for effective solutions to contemporary issues by analyzing natural and social phenomena from various perspectives going beyond the traditional divisions of human, social and natural sciences. Rather than a fragmentary collection of knowledge, this requires the concentration and integration of knowledge from relevant fields.

The program of the Faculty places emphasis on comprehensive education, with subjects that are shared across faculties and departments. From the second year, students can select courses that specialize in particular analytical methods. This equips students with both a broad perspective and specialists skills in their disciplines.


Department of Human Sciences

Students learn about the cultures, history and concepts of people from all parts of the world in order to be able to tackle the various issues of modern society. In addition, the department fosters personnel with the vision and dynamism to support positive physical and mental health.

Psychology and Health Studies

The department fosters personnel who can provide comprehensive support for healthy lifestyles from the viewpoint of psychology, physiology and sports and health science.


Department of Civil and Environment Studies

Students develop an interest in the various issues of modern society and undertake specialist study in diverse fields including law, economics, public policy, community, information, environment and life. The department fosters personnel who can contribute to the creation of a desirable society through the integration of this learning.

Public Policy Studies

Through the acquisition of knowledge of law, political science, economics, and management studies, students learn to analyze the various problems of modern society using the techniques of public policy, and to propose and implement relevant solutions.


Community and Regional Studies

The course fosters personnel who can actively pursue community and regional development towards solving issues including the hollowing out of industry, economic imbalance, aging population, and the issues associated with the information and communications technology society such as the deterioration of community and regional culture.


Symbiotic Environmental Studies

The course fosters personnel who understand the relationship between individuals or society and the environment, based on a specialist scientific grounding in chemistry with a focus on biology, through the protection and use of the environmental and biotic resources that support the community and primary industry.


Department of Mathematical and Material Sciences

The department fosters personnel who can take a logical and original approach to the various issues of the social and natural world, with a scientific spirit developed through study of natural sciences and mathematical science.


Mathematics and Computer Science Studies

This course is for people who want to study mathematics further, who are interested in computers and software development, or who want to become teachers of mathematics or IT. The course fosters personnel who have logical thinking ability and flexible ideas developed through research in mathematics and information science.

Integrated Material Science Studies

Students study chemistry, earth science and physics, and material science as specialisms, inventing, discovering and investigating new materials, new phenomena, and new facts. The course fosters personnel who contribute to society through research into environmental issues and environmentally responsible basic science and technology.
