About this department

The Optical Systems Course covers research and development in nano-optics, optical functional materials, photonic networks, user-friendly 3D/aerial images, high spatiotemporal resolution imaging, and diagnostic imaging technology in the fields of "Optical Materials and Devices" and "Optical Information Systems." We train advanced professionals who can use optical science and technology for future research and development.

Unique

"Graduate Research on Optical Science" promotes the development of problem-solving skills via research in optical science and technology and supports excellent master's thesis research. The "Graduate Seminar on Optical Science" focuses on scientific reading, presentations, and discussions for acquiring and explaining relevant information on research topics from various perspectives. We will systematically and deeply study optical science and technology and provide education in collaboration with other related fields within the graduate school.

Introduction

Optical Materials and Devices

This course provides education and research on material science and photonics to develop functional artificial optical materials, photoelectric conversion devices, optical information processing devices, and other technologies that effectively use light.

Optical Information Systems

This course provides education and research on optical information technology, optical communication systems, and image processing systems. These will enable systems that produce user-friendly ultra-realistic images including 3D images and aerial images, high-definition images, high-capacity optical communication, and diagnostic support systems for finding lesions from X-ray CT images of the human body.
