About this department

On the Computer Sciences Course, students gain a broad knowledge of basic science to respond to the social requirement for personnel who can support an advanced, diversified, and global information society. Students will learn information engineering technologies such as computer hardware and software, artificial intelligence, information security, and image processing to contribute to the development of intelligent and creative information systems. We aim to cultivate researchers and engineers with problem-identifying, planning, and problem-solving abilities. We offer education and research to enable them to play an active role in wide-ranging fields including the design, development, and operation of complex and advanced information systems involving telecoms, medical robots, measuring instruments, industrial fields combining machinery such as intelligent robots with information engineering.

Unique

The Computer Sciences Course offers education and research in various fields of information engineering covering the basic fields of computer hardware and software, telecoms, information security, information engineering, artificial intelligence, and applied computing for multimedia processing. Through lectures and experiments, students will gain wide-ranging engineering knowledge and skills. Furthermore, students will extend their creativity and knowledge application capabilities through engagement with advanced fields of science and technology during their graduation research and research at graduate school. This course enables graduates to play an active role in many fields including electrical and electronic systems, information systems, and precision mechanical systems.

Introduction

Information Science

To contribute to the cooperative development of computer technology in both hardware and software, we conduct research in hardware and software technologies related to new computer systems and integrated circuits, as well as in the basic fields of artificial intelligence, sensory information processing, information communication, information security, and pattern recognition.

Intelligent Systems

In order to respond to the intelligent and efficient operation of computers in many fields, we conduct research on knowledge information processing, neural networks, image processing technology, speech recognition, natural language processing, information retrieval, and multimedia data processing, including artificial intelligence and knowledge engineering.
