Professor OTO Jun

 The Department of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine is a central facility at the Tokushima University Hospital, providing both inpatient and outpatient services 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Our research is targeted to solve patient-oriented problems, such as mechanical ventilation and infection control. Regarding to mechanical ventilation, we are investigating on lung protective strategy, sleep during mechanical ventilation, muscle atrophy in intensive care unit patients and ventilatory performance and humidification by bench studies. In addition, we are investigating new infusion system for preventing catheter-related blood stream infection and new fixation of arterial system. Our missionis to improve the prognosis of the critically ill patients through these clinical researches. We are honored to save many critically ill patients every day.
