Tokushima University's Response to Harvard University's Suspension of Acceptance of International Students in the U.S.

2025/6/4

In response to the recent move by Harvard University to suspend the acceptance of international students, Tokushima University will be proactively considering and taking measures to accept students, so as to ensure that opportunities to learn are not hindered for motivated and talented young people.

First, we will begin accepting students as non-regular students, such as course-taking students. In addition, in the future, in cooperation with faculties and graduate schools, we will consider establishing a more comprehensive and sustainable support system, such as the possibility of accepting students as regular students.

As a university selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's “Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities" (J-PEAKS)," we place emphasis on promoting internationally outstanding research activities and nurturing human resources who will contribute to the local and global communities. Our response to this matter is in accordance with this mission, and we will fulfill the responsibility as an educational and research institution to ensure that students who face unexpected difficulties do not give up on their dreams.
