The 13th Tokushima University International Coordination Symposium—“Looking back to my time as an international student at the Tokushima University”
The 13th Tokushima University International Coordination Symposium was held on March 3 at the Tokushima University International Center with the theme “Looking back to my time as an international student at the Tokushima University ”. Former international students from the university were invited to talk about their experiences at the university, and what they’re doing now.
After an opening address from President Noji and an explanation of the purpose of the symposium from Chenghai Jin, Director of the International Center, four former international students from Indonesia, France, Colombia, and Vietnam talked about their life at Tokushima, their research during their study in Japan, and their current work. They talked about notable episodes at their laboratories and expressed their gratitude to people who had helped them, using photos from that time. For the international students currently at the university, it was an encouraging message from their seniors who are playing active roles in their home countries, and for the hundred or so visitors, it was an opportunity to think about international exchange.
After the talks, there was a lively panel discussion. The international students answered questions such as how they overcame the language barrier and so on.
At the end, President Noji presented the four former international students with a letter of appreciation and a souvenir of their visit.
