On March 10th, the Tokushima University International Center invited former international students who are now successfully working in their home countries to the 12th University of Tokushima International Coordination Symposium “Thinking Back on Our School Days at Tokushima University in Our Home Countries” held at Awa Kanko Hotel. The former students delivered speeches on their experiences they had during the study abroad period as well as their current activities.

After a message from President Kagawa and an explanation on the intent of the symposium by Director Hosoi of the International Center were given, the four former international students from Bhutan, Indonesia, Vietnam, and China talked about the lives in Tokushima, the areas of their research during the study abroad period, and their current occupations. With some memorable pictures, the former students recalled the kindness of local residents and expressed appreciation to those who helped them during the school days. The speeches given by the former students seemed to be encouraging to the current international student enrolled in our school. Moreover, about one hundred people who attended the symposium were given a chance to think about international exchanges.

A panel discussion was held after the speeches to exchange opinions about the promotion of international relations in our school.

At the end, President Kagawa presented the four former international students with a letter of appreciation and a memento of the event.
