Field Trip to Kyoto for International Students

2015-1-6

On December 20 and 21, a field trip was held to Kyoto for international students.

The aim of the field trip was for the students to get to know each other better while learning about Japanese culture, history, industry and so on. Forty-four people took part including international students, faculty and staff.

On the first day, the students made company visits to the Coca-Cola Kyoto Factory and Asahi Shimbun Company Kyoto Factory, where everyone appeared surprised by the advanced automation. On the second day, they visited Kiyomizu Temple, Kinkakuji Temple, and Arashiyama. The students were impressed by the the grandeur of traditional Japanese architecture and the beauty of its gardens. They seemed to enjoy the customs of Japan such as buying fortune papers or trying their luck with the love horoscope at Jishu Shrine.

Many of the students are new to Japan and they struggled with the language and their first winter, but on the second day, many smiles broke out.
