On December 15, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mozambique, His Excellency Belmiro Jose Malate, visited the university with a group from the volunteer group Kapurana no Kai, which supports the establishment of schools in Mozambique.

In his greeting, Ambassador Malate expressed his thanks for the medical support activities (eye camp) in Mozambique undertaken by Associate Professor Naito of Tokushima’s Faculty of Medicine, noting that Tokushima is a special place where he has many friends, including everyone at Kapurana no Kai.

Furthermore, he indicated that his country wishes to explore the possibilities of cooperation with the university in the master’s course scholarship program started as part of the ABE Initiative.

After the courtesy call, the group inspected the Josanjima Campus, visiting an exhibit of books by Professor Shuji Nakamura, a graduate of Tokushima at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2014.
