2013-10-24

On October 15, the University of Tokushima International Center held an opening ceremony for the FY2013 autumn Japanese language training course in the Nichia Kaikan. The current 2013 autumn Japanese language training course welcomes a total of seven students from China, Indonesia, El Salvador, Brazil, Poland, and Honduras.

The Japanese language training course offers intensive classes for about six months as preparatory education for international students before enrollment in graduate school, to enable them to get by in Japanese soon after they arrive in Japan. After completing this term’s course, three of the students will study at graduate schools at Tokushima, and four intend to study at the Naruto University of Education.

At the opening ceremony, Vice-President Takaishi offered a welcome greeting. Then the trainees introduced themselves briefly, giving their name, country of origin and specialism, using the Japanese that they have just started learning. On this occasion, Vice-President Chikamori of Naruto University of Education also attended the opening ceremony. Graduates of the Japanese language training course who are currently studying at Naruto University of Education also came to offer encouragement. Hearing their seniors speaking fluent Japanese appeared highly motivational for this term’s students.
