University of Tokushima Students Take Part in the Tokushima Prefecture 2013 Japanese Speech Contest

On July 21, the Tokushima Prefecture 2013 Japanese Speech Contest organized by the Tokushima Prefectural International Exchange Association was held at Awagin Hall. The Tokushima Prefecture 2013 Japanese Speech Contest is held every year around July, and this time ten foreign nationals from nine countries took part.

Chimeddorj Tsolomon from Mongolia, who is in her second year of the Master’s Course of Regional Sciences at the university’s Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, spoke on the topic of “Learning from different cultures — The Japanese people that I meet”. Her speech was about how the Japanese bow as a matter of course, which conveys a feeling of respect for other people. This was a very agreeable topic for the Japanese who filled the venue. For this speech, Chimeddorj Tsolomon was honored with the Award for Particular Excellence.

Sun Yiyin from China, who is in her second year of the Master’s Course of Regional Sciences at the Graduate School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, received an Award for Effort.
