International Exchange Salon — Arranging Dolls, Speaking Japanese with Local People

2013-3-15

On March 2, the International Exchange Salon was held at the University of Tokushima Nichia Kaikan with the theme of Arranging Dolls, Speaking Japanese with Local People.

International students joined local people and Japanese students in arranging “hina” dolls, provided by the community, on a stepped display. The local people explained that the Dolls Festival is held to celebrate the growth of young girls, as well as the roles of the three court ladies and the five musicians and so on. The international students were fascinated, and impressed by the beauty of the dolls which they could touch for the first time.

After arranging the dolls on the display, everybody ate hina-arare snacks and chatted in Japanese.

Where do the three court ladies go?

The fruits of everyone’s cooperation!
