International Exchange Salon — Enjoying Cooking from Around the World

On January 26, the International Exchange Salon was held at the University of Tokushima Nichia Kaikan with the theme of Enjoying Cooking from Around the World.

International students brought dishes from their countries and local people brought Japanese food for this buffet-style event. The international students from eight countries brought eleven kinds of representative food from their respective countries, and the participants enjoyed talking in Japanese about their countries as they ate. There were dishes using rice from far-away Madagascar and Ghana, and participants felt a sense of affinity for this shared foodstuff, while learning about the diversity of food culture. Everybody gained insights into different cultures through cookery.
