Representatives of China’s Hunan provincial government visit Tokushima University Hospital

On November 4, representatives of Hunan provincial government visited Tokushima University Hospital with representatives of Tokushima Prefecture.

This was the first event of the exchange program between the two local governments in accordance with the Tokushima Prefecture and Hunan Province Friendship Agreement signed on October 24 this year.

The six-member delegation from the Hunan provincial government was led by Vice-Governor Guo Kailang and included representatives of the education and health departments, and the office of foreign affairs. The delegation visited Tokushima University Hospital to investigate the possibility of exchanges between the two local governments concerning cooperation in the fields of medicine and medical education.

On the day, a welcoming ceremony was held in the Nichia Medical Hall on the 11th floor of the West Ward. Deputy Director Hiro-omi Kanayama gave an introduction of Tokushima University Hospital followed by an outline of the University of Tokushima from Kiyoshi Fukui, Director of the University of Tokushima International Center.

Then the delegation toured the 11th-floor suite rooms on the West Ward, the PET/CT center, Skills Laboratory, Perinatal Medical Center, and Class 1 Infectious Diseases Ward.

The delegation showed great interest in the latest medical equipment and medical education facilities and expressed their hopes for training and exchanges of doctors, nurses and other medical staff. This visit is expected to result in a variety of exchanges between Tokushima Prefecture, including the University, and Hunan Province in the fields of medicine and medical education.
